6pm: Festive Classics by Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Handel & more

8pm: Warmth & Romance with Elgar and Tchaikovsky 

Join us for an enchanting, candlelit evening of classical music for strings celebrating the warmth, magic and nostalgia of the festive season.

At 6pm be swept away by Mozart’s sparkling Divertimento in D major, Tchaikovsky’s gorgeous Autumn and Andante Cantabile feature alongside much-loved festive excerpts from The Nutcracker. Immerse yourself in Christmas spirit with a lush arrangement of Holst’s magical ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ before the breathtaking finale. A virtuosic performance of ‘Winter’ from legendary tango composer Astor Piazzolla’s ‘The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires’. International violinist Harriet Mackenzie, fresh from concerto performances and recordings with the BBC Phil, the English Chamber Orchestra and the Ulster Orchestra stars and directs. “Searing intensity… captivating.” The Strad. 

At 8pm indulge in the lush beauty and romance of Elgar’s fabulous Serenade for Strings followed by the passion and drama of Tchaikovsky’s magnificent masterpiece with a surprise, festive finale. Harriet Mackenzie directs with ‘faultless technique and unfailing insights’ - Gramophone Magazine.
